Portrait of a gentleman seated next to a window. Unsigned. Relined and cleaned, two repaired tears and minor retouch. Attributed to William W. Kennedy (1817-1871). Giltwood frame. According to oral history the sitter was a member of the Rogers-Avery-Watrous families of Ledyard, Connecticut. The attributed artist is known to have worked as a portrait painter in New Bedford, Mass. in 1845 and in Berwick, Maine in 1847
