Portsmouth, New Hampshire mahogany and bird’s eye maple "Drop Panel" bowfront chest of drawers. The edge of the top and the inlay above the skirt are matching bold stylized Greek key stringing. The four drawers are crossbanded with highly figured mahogany surrounding a brilliant bird’s eye maple panel with the very unusual feature of tiger maple cock beading which makes the drawer sparkle. The skirt has a central bird’s eye maple drop panel framed (sides and bottom) with a chevron inlay, raised on long slender French feet with scalloped returns. The maple top and sides retain about 80% of the original reddish stain. The whole chest is in remarkable original condition including the original brass.
