Small early federal Boston mahogany bow front chest-of-drawers. Pieces have to be dated by their latest features and in this case: bow front and original oval brass. The rest of this wonderful example is pure Chippendale: Small size (Federal is usually 38”-42”), molded top (Federal is usually square ,sometimes with edge inlay), base molding (Federal is flush), Chippendale bracket feet (Federal Is usually French foot). So my quess is that this piece was made by an older cabinet maker who was trained in the Chippendale style making a “Modern” chest in 1800.
The original brass is the best, labled "Honor".
